SUMMARY:Burnt into Memory: How Brownfield Faced the Fire
DESCRIPTION:Drawing on interviews with townspeople\, letters\, photographs\, and newspaper reports\, Jo Radner tells the history of the furious 1947 wildfire that in a few hours destroyed almost all of the little town of Brownfield in western Maine. Neighbors fought and fled the fire\, saving what they could and supporting one another\, then returned to the devastated town to rebuild their community. In the Brownfield citizens’ own words\, Jo Radner tells an epic story of terror\, courage\, generosity and hope. Friday 17 April 2026. 7:00 pm. UMF Emery Community Arts Center\, $10 for adults. SUMMARY:STUMF performance of "A Dollar"
DESCRIPTION:“A Dollar” is a one act play written in 1920 by David Pinski. It follows a traveling acting troupe that find themselves at odds when the group finds a dollar on the ground and despite being written over a century ago\, it remains relevant as it reflects how easily social dynamics and power can be altered by the existence of some monetary value and how quickly that power can change or disappear completely. The play is presented as a comedy but involves social commentary on greed and power that remain fresh for a modern audience. The performance itself is a student run production run through the Student Theater UMF.

DESCRIPTION:ArtsFarmington is pleased to present the DaPonte String Quartet with guest artists\, Edwin Barker and Yuri Funahashi. The concert will be in the Nordica Auditorium\, of Merrill Hall\, at the University of Maine at Farmington on Thursday evening\, June 4th\, at 7:00pm.  Tickets can be bought online at artsfarmington.org or at the door. The suggested adult ticket price is $25.  The concert is free for UMF students. It is also free for youth 18 and under through our Arts Inspire Youth program. \nThe DaPonte String Quartet is proud to present a special concert event featuring acclaimed bassist Edwin Barker and pianist Yuri Lily Funahashi in a program celebrating two pillars of thechamber music repertoire: Antonín Dvořák’s Bass Quintet and Franz Schubert’s beloved “Trout”Quintet. \nThis unique collaboration brings together six exceptional musicians for an evening that highlights the richness and versatility of the quintet form. Dvořák’s Bass Quintet\, a rarely performed gem\, showcases the composer’s lyrical warmth and rhythmic vitality\, enriched by the sonorous depth of the double bass. DESCRIPTION:The UMF Emery Community Arts Center is excited to be exhibiting the artwork of Rumford native Phil Poirier with\, “A Retrospective\, Interrupted.” The solo exhibit features landscape paintings inspired by locations in Maine and New Hampshire\, and will be on display in Emery’s Flex Gallery from June 13 – Sept. 17\, 2026. Gallery Open Hours: Tuesday-Saturday\, 12pm-6pm. It is free and open to the public.
