At Upward Bound, we follow a “No Dis” policy, which means no one is allowed to discount themselves or others.

If someone puts themselves down or dismisses someone else, anyone in the community can respond with:
“No discount” or “No dis.”

This simple practice helps create a safe, respectful, and encouraging environment where everyone feels supported to take risks, grow, and be their authentic selves—without fear of judgment.

We’re looking for individuals with strong academic skills and a passion for supporting high school students. Tutors and mentors work with students once a week (in person or remotely), helping them:

• Build subject-specific knowledge

• Develop confidence and academic habits

• Foster a positive, growth-oriented mindset
