Professional, Certified, and Committed to Campus Safety

The UMF Department of Public Safety / Campus Police is staffed by fully trained police officers that are certified by the Maine Criminal Justice Academy. All crimes are investigated by seasoned police officers and prosecuted by the Franklin County District Attorney’s Office.

UMF Safe App: Safety in Your Pocket

Escort Program & Life Safety Phones

UMF provides several resources to help students, faculty, staff, and visitors feel safe while traveling across campus. The Escort Program offers trained campus personnel to accompany individuals to residence halls, academic buildings, parking lots, or other nearby locations, particularly during evening hours or when walking alone. Call to request an escort.

Life Safety Phones are located throughout campus, including inside buildings, elevators, and outdoor locations. They provide direct access to UMF Department of Public Safety/Campus Police or 9-1-1 services. Outdoor emergency call boxes are equipped with blue lights for easy visibility.
