Biography

Dr. Joey Ka-Yee Essoe (劉家宜) is a cognitive neuroscientist/psychologist with a speciality in learning enhancement. Her teaching interests includes implementing learning enhancement strategies in frontline pedagogy, training students to become resourceful learners in the age of Generative AI and uncertainty. Her current research concerns the interaction between learning and human flourishing, covering topics such as forgiveness and anti-fragility.Beyond these, she writes epic-fantasy novels (kessoe.com), cooks from scratch (mostly American and Italian), feeds people delicious (but ugly) food, plays guitars (poorly), and recently started digital drawing. She loves puns. She loves snow, Maine’s sun angles, which lead to the blue hour at twilight that happens nowhere else she has lived. And “sidle” is her favourite word in the English language.
