Biography

Dr. Kathryn S. Stiefel is an assistant professor of special education whose work centers on promoting inclusive education and a sense of belonging for students with disabilities. Prior to her faculty role, her career began in classrooms, working as a preschool teacher, paraprofessional, and middle school special educator in MetroWest Boston. She has also worked at the collegiate level for an inclusive postsecondary education (IPSE) program. Her dedication to bridging research and practice informs her scholarship and teaching, preparing future educators to create accessible learning environments. Dr. Stiefel’s research explores evidence-based practices that foster meaningful inclusion, with a focus on supports and policies that improve outcomes for students with disabilities. Her teaching and scholarship are grounded in real-world experience and a deep commitment to student success. Dr. Stiefel’s work aims to prepare educators to lead in creating inclusive schools and classrooms where all students belong and are empowered to succeed.
