Biography

Dr. Callahan grew up in Wilton and Farmington, Maine, and now teaches in the Community and Public Health major at UMF. With a background in Public Health specializing in epidemiology, health behavior, and program development, her research focuses on community level interventions and behavior change strategies to improve population health. An active collaborator with State and National health organizations, she integrates service learning projects into her courses. Passionate about experiential learning, she aims to build community within her classes, make courses engaging, and create hands on, out of class experiences that give students real world, career ready skills. When she’s not teaching, you’ll find her outdoors—paddle boarding, tracking down hidden waterfalls, or enjoying easy hikes with her dog Pepper.
