Biography

Dr. Mellisa Clawson specializes in creative arts, science education, and infant-toddler development, along with early intervention and inclusive practices for young children with special needs. Dr. Clawson partners with educators nationwide, helping them craft effective strategies for children with sensory and autism spectrum disorders. Her commitment to hands-on learning even led her to conquer seasickness while researching a co-authored book. She braved the Alabama coast on a shrimp boat to help rural teachers develop a captivating, place-based science curriculum. When she’s not educating the minds of her college students, Dr. Clawson is dreaming of her next adventurous endeavor.
