The Distinguished Service Award honors a clinical mental health counselor who has shown exceptional commitment and service to the counseling profession and the communities they serve.
It is given to an individual who has consistently demonstrated excellence in their practice—providing compassionate care and support to clients while also contributing to the advancement of the counseling field. Through their dedication, leadership, and unwavering commitment to ethical practice, the recipient has made a lasting impact on the lives of their clients and colleagues, setting a standard of excellence for others to follow.

Henry leads UMF’s graduate program in Counseling Psychology and serves on the Maine Board of Counseling Professionals, representing the University of Maine System. With over two decades of clinical experience, Henry’s work bridges academic leadership with direct service—preparing aspiring counselors while continuing to support mental health services and practitioners across Maine.
“To be honored by fellow clinicians—those who understand the depth of this work—is especially meaningful,” said Henry. “I’m proud to be a part of UMF’s role in educating clinical mental health counselors who are ready to serve with integrity and purpose.”
