Honors Experience Guidelines

Honors students may apply one approved experiential learning opportunity—such as study abroad, select internships, community service, or independent research—toward three Honors credits. Approval from the Honors Director is required before beginning the experience. Students must complete a reflective report and present their work at an Honors event or Symposium, demonstrating growth through hands-on learning, reflection, and application.

Approved Honors Experience Options

Honors students may earn three Honors credits once by completing one of the following with prior approval: a global learning program, an approved internship or community service experience, or independent research. With permission, this experience may also support an Honors Thesis or creative/service project.

Learning & Reflection Requirements

The Honors Experience emphasizes active, student-centered learning. Students must propose their experience in advance, complete an experiential learning cycle—engaging, reflecting, analyzing, and applying—and submit a comprehensive final report along with a formal presentation at an Honors event.
