Lead the Change: Graduate Certificate in Climate Education

How we teach about climate change and sustainability is as important as what we teach.

UMF’s Graduate Certificate in Climate Education prepares educators to incorporate climate change topics and related issues into their teaching. The program equips participants with both the scientific knowledge and practical strategies needed to engage students and the broader public in understanding climate challenges and solutions.

This 15-credit program emphasizes a place-based approach, encouraging educators to focus on local climate issues affecting their communities. By connecting schools with their surrounding communities, participants use real-world experiences of climate change to create meaningful, context-driven learning opportunities.
