Master’s in Mathematics Education (M.S. Ed.)

Inspire, Innovate, and Elevate Math Learning

Experience what Mathematics Education can be with UMF’s unique approach.

If you’re ready to deepen your understanding of mathematics and enhance your teaching skills, the University of Maine at Farmington’s Master’s in Mathematics Education (M.S.Ed.) is designed for you. This program combines rigorous mathematics content with innovative teaching strategies, giving educators the tools they need to excel in the classroom.

What sets this program apart is its integrated approach: content knowledge and pedagogy are taught together. By gaining a thorough understanding of mathematical concepts alongside effective instructional methods, teachers are better equipped to engage students, address learning challenges, and foster a deeper appreciation for mathematics in their classrooms.

Online and Personal: The Best of Both Worlds

The master’s program is taught 100% online, with a mix of independent work, online classroom discussions, and a few Zoom meetings.

This format allows our students the flexibility of online study, while still helping them form meaningful relationships with their professors and other like-minded educators. The Zoom meetings allow for deep, rich, and spontaneous discussions that are often lost with purely asynchronous formats.

Deepen Content, Elevate Teaching

UMF’s M.S.Ed. in Mathematics Education equips teachers with both advanced mathematical knowledge and effective pedagogical strategies. By integrating content and teaching methods, the program prepares educators to engage students, overcome learning challenges, and foster a lasting understanding and appreciation of mathematics in their classrooms.
