From Classroom to Coach: UMF Education Students in Action

UMF’s Middle & Secondary Education program pairs students with expert faculty and off-site supervisors to gain hands-on experience in teaching English, math, science, and social studies. Students also attend regional and statewide education conferences, presenting their work and networking with education leaders. Graduates earn certification to teach grades 6-8 in Maine and many other states, benefiting from a highly respected, accredited program.

I couldn’t have asked for a better school to become an educator. The faculty and staff are outstandingly supportive and encouraging no matter where life takes you. Real-World Teaching Starts Here

UMF Middle & Secondary Education students complete a 16-week immersive Student Teaching experience, working in local schools with guidance from UMF faculty and mentor teachers. This hands-on capstone allows students to apply classroom learning in real-world settings. Students also create and present a professional portfolio showcasing lesson plans, assessments, and teaching samples. UMF’s campus is conveniently located near local middle and high schools, providing easy access for field experiences.
