UMF’s World Languages Teacher Education: French program prepares students to teach French in Pre-K through Grade 12 classrooms and engage with diverse cultural and language communities.

With a significant shortage of fully certified language teachers in Maine and beyond, the demand for qualified educators in world languages is tremendous, and career opportunities for teaching languages are plentiful.

UMF’s World Languages Teacher Education: French program gives students hands-on teaching experience through mentoring, classroom practicums, and real-world work with local schools.

Students create and present professional portfolios showcasing lesson plans, assessments, and teaching samples, and can participate in regional and statewide education conferences for networking and professional growth. The campus’s central location offers easy access to nearby K–12 schools for immersive learning opportunities.
