Our mission is to make a high-quality, affordable education accessible to as many students as possible.

As part of that commitment, we continue to offer merit-based scholarships to first-time, first-year students who demonstrate strong academic achievement. If you are admitted to UMF with a recalculated GPA of 2.75 or higher and have completed a rigorous college preparatory curriculum in high school, you may be eligible for one of our academic scholarships.

UMF Success Scholarship for In-state Students

The UMF Success Scholarship is designed to recognize and reward students from Maine who have excelled in their high school academic coursework — and the support doesn’t stop there. This renewable scholarship follows you throughout your college journey at the University of Maine at Farmington, helping you stay focused on what matters most: your success.

Award Amount: $1,000 to $3,000 annually
The scholarship amount is determined by your GPA while enrolled at UMF (see chart below for details).

Eligibility:

  • Must be admitted to UMF as a first-time, first-year student from Maine
  • Must apply for admission by May 1
  • Must meet the required recalculated GPA for scholarship consideration
  • Start strong, stay supported, and let your academic achievement pay off at UMF.

UMF Success Scholarship for Out-of-State Students

Rewarding Your Hard Work — Every Step of the Way

The UMF Success Scholarship recognizes Out-of-State students who have demonstrated strong academic performance in high school — and continues to support them throughout their college experience at the University of Maine at Farmington.

Award Amount:
Receive between $2,000 and $8,000 annually, based on your GPA at UMF. The scholarship is renewable each year you maintain the required GPA, making it a long-term investment in your future.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be admitted as a first-time, first-year student from out-of-state

  • Must apply for admission by May 1

  • Must meet the recalculated GPA requirements for scholarship consideration

UMF Tuition Pledge for Maine Residents

At the University of Maine at Farmington, we believe in your potential — and we’re backing that belief with our newly expanded UMF Tuition Pledge.

If you’re a Maine resident, entering UMF as a first-time, full-time student with a recalculated GPA of 2.75 or higher and are eligible for a Federal Pell Grant, you will pay nothing toward tuition and mandatory fees at UMF.

What’s Covered:

  • 100% of your tuition and fees (up to 15 credits per semester)

  • Renewable each year based on continued eligibility

Extra Incentives:

  • Priority registration for on-campus housing

  • Early commitment perks and additional support services
