Start college ahead of the game. The Advanced Placement (AP) program lets you earn credit and placement at the University of Maine at Farmington before you even arrive.

Through AP, you’ll save money, earn credits, and have more flexibility in your college experience. A qualifying AP Exam score (3, 4, or 5) can give you UMF course credits, advanced placement in classes, and the freedom to explore opportunities like double-majoring, studying abroad, or pursuing internships.

Start College Ahead with AP Credits

At UMF, many of our best-prepared students arrive with Advanced Placement (AP) credits already under their belts—a smart step toward their college future. If you’ve taken AP courses or exams, you’re already earning valuable credits and experience before stepping on campus. If not, consider adding AP classes to your high school schedule or preparing for an exam on your own. It’s a powerful way to save money, earn credits, and get a head start on your UMF journey.

Remember:

It’s not enough to take AP classes in high school, you must also take the AP Exam for the classes. To be considered for college credit at Farmington, you need to take the college-level AP Exam. Please be sure to do this! Ask your teacher or guidance counselor to help you register for the exam. Scores of three or higher earn will earn you credit at UMF.
