Maine’s newest outdoor Fitness Court® will open Friday, September 6, on the University of Maine at Farmington (UMF) campus. UMF is the first higher education partner to team up with Community Health Options and National Fitness Campaign (NFC) as part of a campaign to build Fitness Courts across the state.
The Fitness Courts provide access to free outdoor exercise equipment for anyone over the age of 14 at any fitness level, allowing people to use their own body weight to get a complete workout using seven exercise stations in as little as seven minutes.
Fitness Court® Ambassadors Alison Thayer, UMF associate director of Fitness and Recreation, and Mike Colella, UMF assistant director of Fitness and Wellness program, will demonstrate how to use the stations and perform various exercises. Fitness Court® Ambassadors, including UMF student athletes, UMF Fitness & Recreation staff, students and special guests will host a sample class for anyone who wants to join in.
