Empowering Reflective, Ethical, and Compassionate Educators

The University of Maine at Farmington’s Teacher Education Unit prepares reflective, ethical, and compassionate educators to lead in a diverse world. Grounded in C3TEP — Caring Teachers, Competent Educators, and Collaborative Professional Leaders, the framework promotes respect, inclusion, and collaboration.

Aligned with state and national standards, the program develops teachers who understand learner diversity, design equitable instruction, and reflect on their practice. UMF’s commitment to diversity and equity empowers graduates to become compassionate, skilled, and ethical professionals who make a lasting impact in their schools and communities.

Our candidates will become educational leaders who are caring teachers, competent educators and collaborative professional leaders (C3TEP).  These guiding principles and beliefs reflect the ideals we hold for ourselves, our candidates, and the students and communities with whom they will work.

Our essential goals and purposes are embodied in the Maine Common Core Teaching Standards and our candidate diversity expectations. Within the context of our programs, candidates are evaluated based on important knowledge, skills and dispositions articulated in each of these standards and expectations.
