Merrill Center Student Services

Your One-Stop Student Services Center at UMF

We've Got You Covered

The Merrill Center at UMF, located on the first floor of historic Merrill Hall, is the central hub for student support—overseeing records and registration, student accounts, financial aid, and employment services. Whether you need transcripts, course scheduling, billing assistance, payment plans, or help accessing grants, scholarships, and on‑campus work, the Merrill Center team is committed to delivering friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable guidance.

They’re open weekdays and are readily available to assist students from admission through graduation

Academic Records & Course Registration

Records and Registration are the keepers and protectors of your permanent student record, from admission through graduation, keeping it from unauthorized access and destruction.  We provide academic transcripts, verify enrollment, administer VA benefits, approve graduation and schedule courses.

We also administer the academic policies set by University of Maine at Farmington and the University of Maine System, ensuring fair, consistent practice.

Our mission is to provide high quality, friendly support and service to students, faculty and staff while upholding the ethical and professional standards of the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers.

Student Accounts

In keeping with its educational mission, UMF expects each student to exercise responsibility and timeliness in fulfilling one’s financial obligations to the University. Each student has an individual student account record maintained in the student’s name by Student Accounts.

UMF currently emails all billing statements to the student’s maine.edu email account.

Financial Aid Office

Our purpose is to support student access and persistence to graduation through the delivery of an array of services and support that primarily encompasses grants, scholarships, on-campus student employment and payroll, and assorted loan programs.

We strive to honor the vision of UMF and to uphold the values of our campus mission through financial aid services marked by excellence.

Student Employment

Students are integral parts to the daily operations of many departments here at UMF. We are very proud of our student work programs because they allow students to work in fields related to either their major or personal interest, or even to gain employment that leads them to a decision of what they would like to major in or pursue in a professional capacity.

Happy to have you back!

If you took time off from UMF (not including an official leave of absence) and want to come back, you’ll need to apply for re-entry.

  • If you’ve been away for 2 or more years, you’ll follow the rules (catalog requirements) from the year you return.

  • If it’s been less than 2 years, talk to an advisor about which rules apply.

  • Coming back to your old major after more than 2 years isn’t automatic—you’ll need approval from the department.

Veteran Services

The University of Maine at Farmington offers comprehensive Veteran Services to support veterans, active duty military, and their dependents. Services include priority registration, dedicated on-campus housing, academic and financial guidance, and assistance with VA benefits. UMF is committed to creating a supportive environment that helps military-affiliated students succeed academically and personally while fully participating in campus life.
