Mainly Outdoors works hard to ensure that UMF students have affordable access to the outdoors. If you’re looking for adventure, look no further!

Adventure Options

Mountain Biking

Our mountain bike rides are lead by enthusiastic knowledge riders with a true passion for the sport. Rides include local trails in Farmington as well as trips to popular destinations like Carrabassett Valley Maine and Bradbury Mountain State Park in Pownal Maine. We hold a weekly ride on Wednesdays and a women’s ride on Thursdays starting from the Mainley Outdoors building. Rental mountain bikes are available.

Paddling

Our paddling trips include canoes and kayaks. Paddles include local waterways like the Sandy River, Clearwater, and Wilson Lake. Our trips include the Kennebec from Solon to North Anson, and paddling the Flagstaff and Rangeley Lakes region.

Hiking

Our hiking trips are lead by enthusiastic knowledgeable hikers. Hikes include local trails in the Farmington area such as Titcomb, Pico Cliffs, Bald Mountain in Weld, all the way to Sugarloaf, Bigelow Mountain and the Bethel area. Rental walking poles, packs, and gear are available.

Winter Sports

Activities include snowshoeing, x-country skiing, alpine skiing,and ice skating. We find time for a fun sledding trip times too! Trips include Titcomb Mountain, Flint Woods, Sugarloaf, Black Mountain, Sunday River and more. Gear is available for rent.

Equipment & Gear Available for Sign-out / Rental

We know not everyone has a garage-full of outdoor gear, so Mainely Outdoors offers an ever-growing inventory of equipment for sign-out / rental for students and community members. Get geared up, and get out there!

Daily rentals for UMF students are FREE!
