Outdoor Recreation

Adventure Starts Here

At UMF, the outdoors isn’t just nearby—it’s part of your everyday life.

If you love the outdoors, Farmington is the perfect place to call home during your college years. From world-class skiing and snowboarding to some of the best hiking, mountain biking, camping, rafting, canoeing, and kayaking in the Northeast, adventure is always within reach.

Right off campus, you’ll find miles of running and biking trails, geocaching spots, groomed Nordic skiing paths, and even night skiing at Titcomb Mountain just across town. The Sandy River flows right beside our athletic fields—perfect for swimming, paddling, or fly fishing. With the scenic Flint and Bonny Woods trails just a short walk away, UMF puts you in the middle of it all.

Come Get Your Outdoors On

You can even sign out all kinds of outdoor gear through our Mainely Outdoors program, located right next door to the UMF Fitness and Rec Center.

Get Your Shred On — FREE

Thanks to a generous donation from Sugarloaf and Sunday River, all full-time UMF students receive a free season pass to Titcomb Mountain, just 10 minutes from campus. Students can also take free learn-to-ski-and-ride lessons, taught by peers in UMF’s Alpine Operations Certificate program.

Titcomb Mountain offers a variety of outdoor experiences, including night skiing and snowboarding, Nordic trails, a terrain park, and a new outdoor fire pit for après-ski gatherings. With a rustic lodge, cozy fireplace, and a cafeteria serving homemade favorites, Titcomb makes it easy for students to enjoy skiing, snowboarding, and the outdoors while living at UMF.
