Mallett Hall

A Campus Hub for Sport, Study & Community

Known for its themed living communities focused on Sports & Recreation and the Outdoors, Mallett offers students a space to connect over shared interests through activities, events, and supportive networks.

Mallett Hall is a cherished part of UMF’s history. Built in 1924 and renamed in 1940 to honor W. G. Mallett, the hall has long symbolized community and tradition. Recent upgrades have modernized the building while preserving its legacy—enhancing student rooms, updating bathrooms to single-user restrooms, improving accessibility, and replacing outdated systems.

Themed Communities

This residence hall is home to two Themed Communities, each designed to support academic and personal growth in a collaborative environment. These communities help foster a strong sense of belonging while encouraging you to explore and deepen your passions.

Experience the Outdoors Themed Community

UMF is perfectly situated for students who love the outdoors—and the Experience the Outdoors Themed Community helps students make the most of it! Open to undergraduates of any major, this community is ideal for those who want to incorporate outdoor activities and adventures into their daily lives while developing leadership skills.

Sports and Rec Themed Community

Whether you’re a varsity athlete, club or intramural sports participant, sports enthusiast, or passionate outdoor adventurer, the Sports and Rec Themed Community offers an ideal on-campus living experience.

Located in the heart of campus, Mallett Hall puts you steps away from Dearborn Gym, the Fitness & Recreation Center, UMF’s Mainely Outdoors program, the Student Center, and South Dining Hall. This prime location supports a lifestyle centered around movement, wellness, and connection.

A cozy, close-knit community where tradition meets student life. Historic charm, modern vibes, and friends just down the hall!
