Purington Hall

Live Where History Inspires

Welcome to Purington Hall—where tradition meets today. As UMF’s oldest residence hall, Purington isn’t just a place to live; it’s a vibrant part of campus life that offers comfort, community, and character.

Whether you’re starting your first year or returning to campus, Purington provides more than a room—it gives you a home base to launch your journey, build friendships, and make unforgettable memories.

Where History Meets Home

Purington Hall is one of UMF’s most iconic buildings—and for good reason.

Built in the late 1800s, it’s the oldest residence hall on campus, blending rich history with a warm, lived-in feel that students love. Inside, you’ll find updated living spaces, cozy lounges, and a welcoming atmosphere that makes it easy to feel at home. Living here means becoming part of a long tradition of UMF students who started their journey in the same place.

Tight-Knit Community Vibes

What makes Purington special is the strong sense of community.

With smaller hallways and shared spaces, it’s easy to meet new people, make friends, and feel like you belong. Whether you’re studying together in the lounge, catching up in the kitchen, or just saying hi in the hallway, Purington creates the kind of close-knit environment that helps you feel supported and seen. It’s more than a place to sleep—it’s where community happens.

In the Heart of Campus

Purington puts you right in the middle of it all. You’re just steps away from your classes, the library, the dining hall, and everything else that makes campus life exciting. No long walks, no missing out—just more time to focus on what matters most. Living in the heart of campus helps you stay involved, stay motivated, and stay part of the action every day.

Historic charm, tight-knit vibes, and steps from the heart of campus.
