Academic Readiness

Ready to Thrive?

At UMF, academic readiness is about more than being prepared for college-level coursework—it's about being empowered to succeed from day one.

UMF offers small class sizes that allow for meaningful interaction with professors, who are dedicated educators and mentors. First-year students benefit from seminars that build critical thinking, writing, and research skills, while ongoing academic advising ensures they stay on track toward their goals.

Additional support services—such as the Learning Commons, peer tutoring, and workshops—help students strengthen skills in time management, writing, math, and study strategies.

Academic Support Services

UMF offers various support services:
Peer Tutoring is available for any subject and Drop-by Tutoring is offered for mathematics and writing.
The Learning Commons allows students to reserve group study spaces, use the mobile white boards, re-arrange the furniture, access technology, and take advantage of the research support offered by Mantor Library.
Disability Services at UMF provides academic and support services necessary to ensure that students with disabilities have both the physical and programmatic access they need to enjoy a full campus life.
