Monica Nelson Smith
Biography
I am a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and Program Coordinator at RSU 38, where I support specialized special education programs and collaborate with Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) teams. I bring 15 years of experience in special education, having progressed from an Educational Technician to a special education teacher and, ultimately, to my current role, which I have held for the past 10 years.
In addition to my work at RSU 38, I have spent four years as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Maine at Farmington (UMF). Across both roles, I am passionate about connecting research and best practices to practical application. My goal is to provide students and professionals with skills, strategies, and resources they can immediately apply in their classrooms and professional settings—so that they leave each class with something meaningful and useful they can put into practice right away.
I teach SED 429 / 529 and SED 300.
