At the University of Maine at Farmington (UMF), we’re committed to creating a safe, supportive campus where everyone can learn, live, work, and explore with confidence. Safety is a shared responsibility, and we work together as a community to look out for one another and create an environment where everyone feels welcome and supported.

From getting around campus after dark to knowing what to do in an emergency, UMF offers resources to help you feel informed, prepared, and connected. Whether you need immediate assistance, want to report a concern, or are looking for support for yourself or someone else, you’ll find resources and people ready to help.

Public Safety & Campus Police

UMF Public Safety & Campus Police is available 24/7 to help protect the safety and well-being of students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Services include campus patrols, safety escorts, crime prevention, and emergency response.

The free UMF Safe App puts campus safety resources at your fingertips. Access emergency and campus police contacts, support services, and tools such as Friend Walk, which allows you to share your location with a friend while traveling across campus. Escort Program & Life Safety Phones

The UMF Escort Program helps students, faculty, staff, and visitors travel safely across campus, especially during evening hours or when walking alone. Life Safety Phones are located throughout campus and provide direct access to Public Safety & Campus Police or 9-1-1. Outdoor emergency call boxes are marked with blue lights for easy visibility.

Hazing Prevention & Reporting

UMF is committed to preventing hazing and promoting a campus culture built on respect, belonging, and accountability. Any person who believes they have been subject to hazing, has witnessed hazing, or has knowledge of any activity or conduct which may constitute hazing is encouraged to report.

Title IX & Sexual Misconduct

Title IX is a federal law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in education programs and activities. At UMF, this includes protecting students and employees from sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating and domestic violence, stalking, pregnancy discrimination, and ensuring equity in athletics.
