Biography

Tobias is a Mississippi native who comes to UMF after more than 20 years working to protect individuals’ rights and liberties and to ensure institutional fairness and equality.

He worked previously as a newspaper reporter in Mississippi, a human rights investigator in Atlanta, and a homeless services provider in Washington D.C. while attending law school.

After law school, Tobias served as a public defender for Philadelphia’s notorious Kensington neighborhood before heading his own law firm specializing in criminal defense and plaintiffs’ personal injury claims.

Outside of his work at UMF, Tobias enjoys homesteading with his family and overcoming the many challenges of living off-the-grid.
