Materials Center & Assistive Technology

A hub for exploration, collaboration, and growth.

The Spenciner Curriculum Materials Center (SCMC) offers curriculum resources, children’s literature, and tools for inclusive teaching. You’ll also have access to the UMF Center for Assistive Technology, Maine’s only university-based lending and demonstration center, providing tools that support independence and inclusive learning. Opened in October 2023, the Sweatt-Winter Child Care & Early Education Center is a 10,000+ sq. ft. facility serving as a high-quality child care center and teaching lab. Here, you might work with young children and families, gain hands-on experience with UMF faculty, and build the skills employers value.

Field Services Office

Supporting hands-on classroom experience with guidance and mentorship every step of the way.

UMF’s Field Services Office connects you with classroom placements, student teaching, and ongoing professional support. Full-time UMF faculty serve as field supervisors, providing personalized, experience-based mentorship, while strong partnerships with schools across Maine ensure diverse learning opportunities. You’ll be supported every step of the way—from your first placement through student teaching and into your career.
