Where You'll Live at UMF

Living Learning Communities (LLCs) provide an immersive, inclusive residential experience where students live with peers who share similar goals and interests. These communities involve active participation in programs and events focused on their themes, fostering strong connections between students and staff. LLCs require students to opt in during housing application and are designed for deeper engagement. UMF currently offers three LLCs: the Experience the Outdoors Community (Mallett Hall, 1st & 2nd floors) and the Veterans & Active Duty Military Community (Scott Hall-West, lower floor), and the Undeclared Majors Community (Purington 1st floor).

Themed Communities offer a more informal way for students to live among others with shared interests or passions. Open to all residents without opting in, these communities provide social and educational programming related to their themes, though participation is flexible. Themed Communities may span floors or entire halls and include options like the Lavender Community (Scott Hall South, 3rd floor), and the Education Community (Purington Hall 2nd & 3rd floor).
