Education in Action: Student Teaching

At UMF, student teaching isn’t just a requirement—it’s a transformative experience. Our program places you in real classrooms, where you’ll work alongside experienced educators to develop your teaching skills. You’ll craft lesson plans, manage a classroom, and inspire young minds, all while receiving guidance and feedback. This hands-on experience not only prepares you for your future career but also helps you discover your unique teaching style.

Classroom Optional: Fieldwork at UMF

Fieldwork at UMF takes learning beyond the classroom, offering hands-on experience in real-world settings. From archaeology to zoology, students conduct experiments and observations that mirror professional work — all in preparation for your future career.

Internships

At UMF, we believe in learning by doing. Our internship program offers you the chance to apply classroom knowledge to real-world situations, gaining valuable experience and industry connections.

Take Charles Katz, for example. As an Outdoor Recreation Business Administration (ORBA) major, Charles landed a paid internship at Saddleback Ski Resort, just an hour from campus. As part of his Resort Management course, he joined the Ski Patrol team, learning essential skills in a high-stakes environment. Charles even produced a video documenting his experience for his final project. Check out this video to follow Charles’s journey at Saddleback.
