Jumpstart your college journey with UMF’s Summer Experience — a fun and supportive way to get to know campus and connect with your future classmates.

Summer Experience at the University of Maine at Farmington, held June 21–24, is your chance to experience UMF firsthand. Spend 4 days and 3 nights on campus getting a true feel for college life. Meet new friends, connect with professors, and discover your new community. Summer Experience gives you a glimpse of what’s ahead — the very first chapter of your own Farmington story.

Participation is limited to 75 students. Once we reach capacity, we’ll begin a waitlist.

Summer Experience is a blend of fun, hands-on opportunities designed to help you connect with the campus, explore resources, and get to know UMF’s welcoming faculty and staff.

Bottom line: you’ll get a great head start on college — socially, academically, and personally.

Claim UMF as Your Own This Summer

  • Live in a residence hall and get a chance to bond with other new UMF students
  • Participate in campus activities and make connections with upperclassmen
  • Meet with an academic advisor to review your Fall schedule
  • Explore the entire campus including Emery Community Arts Center, Olsen Student Center, Fitness & Recreation Center, Mainely Outdoors, and more

Explore Campus Life & Community

  • Spend part of an afternoon with dynamic faculty in your choice of hands-on learning opportunities
  • Learn about our student clubs and organizations
  • Judge the “Farmington’s Best Pizza” competition
  • Check out downtown Farmington and the surrounding area
  • Best of all, get comfortable here at UMF and take care of business before arriving this fall

The program cost is $125 and includes housing, meals, and all activities

Get Out There and Learn: Hands-On Field Experiences

As part of Summer Experience we want you to have the opportunity to connect with faculty to experience some out-of-the-box field experiences that will take you around the community.

Each field experience runs between 3 1/2 to 4 hours. These aren’t really courses, but hands-on outdoor experiences where you’ll be doing … not sitting in a class.
